The Villanueva story starts in Veracruz, Mexico — where family, food, and culture run deep. Evic G Villanueva and Florangel Perez grew up there, and while still young they made the move to Mexico City — where they started their family. Evic Y and his sister Leslieht were both born in Mexico City before the family made the journey to the United States, chasing a dream bigger than themselves.
In Houston, TX, Evic G built a 20+ year career mastering the art of Japanese sushi — becoming one of the most skilled sushi chefs in the city. His craft became the family’s foundation.
Meanwhile, Evic Y came up the hard way in the hospitality industry — starting as a busboy and working his way up to restaurant management. He learned the business from the ground floor up.
Then came the fire.
